Anyone seen Alien Planet on Discovery? In it we launch AI probes in 2014. The probes are quite advanced as I see it - anyone who has seen it - do you think we can make AI with the intelligence of a 4 year old by 2014?

We already got it, the problem is the interface. we don’t have the visual interface ironed out yet. Though they are taking the hard road on it, they ware working on it.

In a virtual environment we can have the computer do more then what was on that show, it was the interfacing with the real world that we hit the brick wall.

I have, I thought the probes were a little too curious for their own good. That's not good when you only have two very expensive probes out in the middle of nowhere close to you for repair. I was also suprised that they didn't show more of the self repair functionality (if they had such functions..

I was impressed with our ever increasing ability to put more of a real surreal feel intp the visuals too..

i saw this show, it was absolutely incredible. they said it took 42 years to get the probe there, but in reality, with our technology, it would take about 50,000 years, and thats just to get to the nearest star.

the robots themselves were awesome. i was sad that they got killed at the end!

woops, did i just ruin the ending? just kidding :o)
